While war rages between the local cattlemen and sheepherders, gunslinger-turned-preacher Jim Killian (Ford) rides into town determined to start his own church. When his efforts to stop the bloodshed lead to rape, arson and murder, Killian must decide whether to bring about peace through faith alone or his deadly skills with a gun. Based on an unproduced screenplay by two-time Academy Award winner Dalton Trumbo, Heaven with a Gun was the final film produced by Frank and Maurice King, whose joint career spanned 28 years and included the cult classics Dillinger (1945), Gun Crazy (1950), the Brave One (1956) and Gorgo (1961).
