He was just 12 years old when he composed his Op.1 Piano Trio. - This is a large-scale work, displaying great originality and simply stunning precociousness. Brahms's 2nd Piano Trio was written in 1882, and is a big boned work, with glimpses of the similarly monumental 2nd Piano Concerto which dates from the year before. - Francisco Coll's Piano Trio was commissioned by Borletti-Buitoni Trust, Britten Pears Arts, and Centro Nacional de Difusion Musical (Madrid) and composed for Trio Isimsiz. It is a 17-minute long work rich in contrasting styles and influences, with brilliant but barbed invention.
