Description

Collected - Limited 180-Gram Crystal Clear Vinyl [Import] on LP

Limited edition on crystal clear 180-gram audiophile vinyl. In the early 1950s, Charles Aznavour, a French singer of Armenian descent, struggled to win over audiences, facing jeers and rejection. Despite these challenges, he remained determined. Aznavour became Edith Piaf's secretary in 1946, learning the nuances of performance and songwriting. Though Piaf saw him as a close colleague, she never viewed him romantically, and Aznavour longed for success as a performer, not just a composer. His breakthrough came on December 12, 1960, when a performance of his song Je m'voyais déjà at the Alhambra in Paris earned him a standing ovation, marking the start of his rise to fame. In the 1960s, his hits, including "For Me formidable", "Et pourtant", "La Bohème", and "Emmenez-Moi", solidified his status as a superstar. Aznavour's songs often reflected on the past and collective memory, with tracks like Non, je n'ai rien oublié delving into love and time. He addressed social issues too, as seen in "Comme Ils Disent"(1972), which openly discussed homosexuality. This Collected edition also includes a selection of chansons "Jezebel", "She", "La Bohème", "For Me Formidable", "Comme Ils Disent", "J'ai Vu Paris", duets with Johnny
