Baker (Academy Award-« nominee Anthony Quayle 1969 Best Supporting Actor Anne of the Thousand Days) a private in the British army during the 1880s finds himself in the middle of Barash while it is under siege by Mahdi forces. Finding a boat to escape he brings fellow soldier Murchison (Derek Fowlds TV's "Yes Minister") a governess (Sylvia Sims the Queen) and the daughter of an emir (Jenny Agutter Logan's Run).
