Don Reno & Red Smiley are among the elite core of that first generation of great Bluegrass artists that also includes Bill Monroe, Flatt & Scruggs, and the Stanley Brothers. Don and Red first met in December of 1949 at a Roanoke, Virginia radio station where each of them had been recruited to play with the band, the Tennessee Buddies. By January of 1952, Don & Red were recording as Reno & Smiley on the King label. This collection includes the first song Reno & Smiley recorded for their first King LP.
