Wētā Workshop was intrinsically involved in the design and physical effects manufacture for all three films of The Lord of the Rings™ trilogy.

It takes hundreds of hours to design, sculpt, model make, mold, and paint the prototype for each new Middle-earth piece. Whether it be a prop replica, beautiful environment, or iconic character, we treat our collectibles with the same level of care and attention to detail that we bring to our film work.

Deep within the mountain's dark heart, awaited the King of the Dead, a figure shrouded in ancient majesty and embittered grievance. The king, clad in spectral armour and crowned with the weight of countless ages, stood defiant. His eyes, burning with an unearthly light, regarded the supposed heir of Isildur™ with a mix of pride and scorn.

Behold the King of the Dead, an awe-inspiring 1:6 scale statue meticulously crafted by our master artisans. Emerging from the haunting depths of the Paths of the Dead, this spectral monarch commands a chilling gaze and haunting visage. Every detail, from the intricately sculpted armour adorned with ancient, tarnished symbols to the otherworldly glow in his piercing eyes, speaks of a cursed destiny and unyielding power.

In life, he was a king; in death, he is a legend. Bound by an unbroken oath, he stands as a testament to honour and the dire consequences of broken promises. Let his presence in your collection serve as a reminder of the eternal struggle between duty and redemption.

With an aura of unsettling majesty, this statue captures the very essence of the undead sovereign, making it a must-have for any dedicated fan of Middle-earth's timeless saga. Embrace the legacy. Command the legend. Own the King of the Dead.

“As material technologies improve, we are able revisit characters and bring more to their interpretation than was previously possible. This is our first time fully utilizing these technologies: completely transparent resins, a skull behind the skin of his face, improved 3D printing techniques… We really felt the need to revisit the King of the Dead and showcase him not just as a physical being, but an ethereal one, much like he appeared on screen.”
